Some collaborations reinterpret a classic, while others transform it entirely. The new Converse x Collina Strada collection clearly belongs to the latter category. Presented during New York Fashion Week as part of the New York label’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, this collaboration turns one of the world’s most recognizable silhouettes into an exercise in experimentation, fantasy, and self-expression. To understand how we got here, we first need to talk about the designer behind one of contemporary fashion’s most distinctive creative universes.

Collina Strada: between fashion, activism, and creative freedom

Founded by Hillary Taymour in New York, Collina Strada has established itself over the past decade as one of the most distinctive voices in independent fashion. The brand operates at the intersection of sustainability, experimentation, and visual storytelling, creating collections that challenge traditional industry conventions through pieces such as the Star jeans and hoodies, oversized cargo pants, the Skirt Belt, and accessories including rings and reusable water bottles.

Every Collina Strada runway show functions as an immersive experience where fashion, visual performance, and social commentary merge, as seen in collections such as Please Don't Eat My Friends, centered on environmental activism and animal rights, or the recent The World Is A Vampire for the Fall/Winter 2026 season.

The brand’s influence has expanded far beyond the runway through collaborations with some of the industry’s most relevant names. Over the years, Collina Strada has reinterpreted Reebok icons, developed floral-inspired collections with Puma—including new takes on the Puma Mostro—and collaborated with brands such as Desigual, UGG, Melissa, and others aligned with its creative vision. At the same time, its campaigns and fashion shows have featured leading cultural figures, further cementing the brand’s presence both inside and outside the fashion world.

For this collaboration, Collina Strada uses the Converse archive as a starting point before taking it into entirely new territory. The collection revolves around a series of Chuck 70 reinterpretations where ornamental details and personalization take center stage. The models feature star-shaped metal eyelets, laces decorated with charms in different shapes and materials, oversized tongues, and interchangeable elements that allow each pair to be customized by its wearer.

The most radical proposal comes in the form of the Converse Chuck 70 XXHI x Collina Strada (A19050C), an extra-high boot featuring a black lace textile upper and extravagant embellishments that transform the silhouette into a bold statement piece full of personality. The Converse Chuck 70 x Collina Strada (A19049C) embraces the same aesthetic in a lower-profile version.

Meanwhile, the Converse Chuck 70 HI x Collina Strada (A19047C) opts for a pastel pink-and-green checkered textile upper, while the Converse Chuck 70 Low x Collina Strada (A22205C) translates that same sensibility into a low-top silhouette with a palette of soft yellows, greens, and blues. Both retain the collection’s signature star-shaped metal eyelets, charm-covered laces, and the maximalist spirit that defines the entire project.

With this collaboration, Hillary Taymour succeeds in transforming one of the world’s most recognizable sneakers into a vehicle for self-expression, where individuality, playfulness, and creativity matter more than any established rule.
